February Gardening Reminders & Observances

I’m not much of a gardener. If anything, if I’m in charge, it will most likely die. You may think that I’m exaggerating, but I will tell you that I killed mint… you know, the weed/herb?

No matter, I do still try and I follow OSU Extension Service

Therefore, here are some reminders:

  • Planning

    • Tune up your equipment, such as your lawn mower and gardening tools

    • Test your soil

    • Plant an herb bed

  • Maintenance and Clean Up

    • Repair winter damage

    • Incorporate cover crops

    • Make a cold or hot bed to start early veggies or flowers

    • Prune trees

  • Planting

    • Plant windowsill container

    • Plant fruit trees

  • Pest Monitoring

    • Monitor for problems

    • Use delayed dormant sprays

    • Control moles and gophers with traps (or hire somebody)

  • Houseplants

Work with your local gardening shop, nurseries, or check out OSU’s Extension Service program for videos, training, and information.
